shuffle

A musical genre that is common to blues and rock music, but also found in jazz. The shuffle is characterized by a triplet feel in 4/4 meter (common time), with the middle triplet note dropped. The different genres (i.e. blues, rock and jazz) use different combinations on the drum kit to express the intended feel and groove.
